Science4Everyone is a European initiative that aims to transform cities into vibrant hubs for public engagement with science, creating a sustainable model that brings research closer to society. As part of the broader Science Comes to Town initiative promoted by the European Commission, the project is aligned with the five EU Missions and will deliver more than 1,400 participatory activities across the four partner cities of Aarhus (Denmark), Genoa (Italy), Kaunas (Lithuania), and Oeiras (Portugal).
Through a diverse programme of science festivals, citizen science projects, exhibitions, science cafés, theatre performances, hands-on workshops, and interactive learning experiences, Science4Everyone will make science more accessible, inclusive, and engaging for people of all ages and backgrounds. By embedding science in everyday community spaces and fostering dialogue between researchers, citizens, policymakers, and local stakeholders, the project will strengthen public trust in science, inspire active participation in research and innovation, and contribute to addressing Europe's most pressing societal challenges.
EUREC leads the project's ethics framework, ensuring that all activities are designed and implemented in accordance with the highest ethical standards and principles of responsible research and innovation. EUREC also supports partners in addressing ethical considerations related to public engagement, citizen participation, data protection, and inclusive research practices, helping to foster trustworthy, responsible, and meaningful interactions between science and society.
